ABOUT THE SPORTS AND CULTURAL COMMITTEE

The Sports and Cultural Committee of Teachers Training College (B.Ed.), Aalo is a statutory and co-scholastic body constituted under the ordinances of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Doimukh and the co-curricular parameters of ERC–NCTE, New Delhi. The Committee serves as an institutional platform for promoting physical fitness, artistic expression, cultural identity, and holistic personality development among student-teachers.

Functioning under the Principal’s supervision, it organizes athletic meets, tournaments, youth festivals, literary events, fine arts exhibitions, and heritage-based programmes. It ensures adherence to RGU’s academic calendar while integrating sports and culture into the learning process through experiential and participatory engagement.

The Committee collaborates with District Sports Offices, Youth Affairs Departments, and Cultural Directorates for technical guidance, resource mobilization, and participation in state and national events. It maintains complete documentation for audit, accreditation, and institutional assessment.

OBJECTIVES OF THE SPORTS AND CULTURAL COMMITTEE

1. To promote co-scholastic excellence aligned with RGU and ERC–NCTE frameworks.
2. To foster physical fitness, discipline, and team spirit through organized sports activities.
3. To preserve cultural heritage by organizing folk events, exhibitions, and festivals.
4. To integrate sports and culture with the curriculum for holistic student development.
5. To facilitate participation in district, state, and national events under RGU supervision.
6. To ensure inclusive and gender-equitable participation in all activities.
7. To maintain official documentation for accreditation and regulatory audits.
8. To cultivate leadership, cooperation, and civic values through team-based engagements.

FUNCTIONS OF THE SPORTS AND CULTURAL COMMITTEE

1. To formulate and review institutional sports and culture policies as per RGU and NCTE norms.
2. To schedule and administer annual sports and cultural events in alignment with the academic calendar.
3. To identify and train students through workshops, coaching camps, and talent-development programmes.
4. To maintain liaison with government and recognized bodies for collaborative events.
5. To ensure inclusive, ethical, and transparent participation in all activities.
6. To supervise financial procedures for sports and cultural resource management.
7. To document and archive all event records for NAAC and RGU audits.
8. To promote emotional intelligence, teamwork, and civic values among trainee teachers.
