ABOUT THE GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING COMMITTEE

The Guidance and Counselling Committee of Teachers Training College B.Ed., Aalo functions as a statutory advisory body under the academic mandates of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Doimukh and the Guidance and Counselling norms of ERC–NCTE, New Delhi. It is committed to ensuring emotional well-being, psychological support, and academic adjustment for teacher trainees.

The committee provides a confidential and supportive environment for addressing academic concerns, personal issues, and interpersonal challenges. It also conducts diagnostic assessments of students' interests, aptitudes, and behavioural attributes for educational and vocational guidance.

It collaborates with faculty, mentors, and internship supervisors to support trainees during teaching practice and school internship. Workshops on stress management, personality development, gender sensitization, and inclusive education are regularly organised to promote emotional literacy and professional readiness.

The committee ensures confidentiality, ethical conduct, and timely redressal of psychosocial concerns while reporting progress indicators to the Principal for institutional support and policy improvement.

OBJECTIVES OF THE GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING COMMITTEE
  1. To ensure emotional stability, mental health, and holistic personality development of trainees.
  2. To provide academic, vocational, and personal counselling based on diagnostic assessment.
  3. To promote an inclusive, learner-centred environment through preventive and developmental counselling.
  4. To organize sensitization programmes on emotional intelligence, gender issues, and social adaptability.
  5. To offer therapeutic and mentoring support for resolving behavioural and academic maladjustments.
  6. To coordinate with external counselling and mental health agencies for advanced interventions.
  7. To ensure confidentiality, impartiality, and ethical compliance in all counselling functions.
  8. To prepare and submit analytical reports on psychosocial outcomes for institutional review.
FUNCTIONS OF THE GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING COMMITTEE
  1. To provide counselling services to address emotional, academic, social, and vocational concerns.
  2. To conduct psychometric assessments for identifying aptitudes, interests, and personality traits.
  3. To organise workshops on stress management, life skills, and psychosocial development.
  4. To conduct individual and group counselling sessions with assurance of privacy and ethical guidelines.
  5. To coordinate with internship supervisors and psychologists to integrate counselling support into teaching practice.
  6. To maintain confidential counselling case records and outcome documentation.
  7. To establish linkages with professional mental health agencies for referrals and special interventions.
  8. To submit periodic reports and recommendations to the Principal for quality and welfare enhancement.
