ABOUT THE LIBRARY COMMITTEE

The Library Committee of Teachers Training College (B.Ed.), Aalo functions as a statutory and advisory academic body formed under the regulatory norms of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Doimukh, and the guidelines of the Eastern Regional Committee of NCTE, New Delhi. It plays a central role in managing, modernizing, and strengthening the library as the core learning hub of the institution.

The Committee formulates policies on acquisition, classification, accession, and circulation of learning resources following UGC–INFLIBNET and NCTE library standards. It supervises bibliographic database management, digital repository systems, and ICT-based information retrieval processes ensuring efficient access to print and digital resources.

It oversees the procurement of textbooks, journals, reference works, and e-resources while ensuring transparency in financial and administrative procedures. The Committee promotes library automation, digitization, and academic audit compliance.

By organizing orientation programmes, literary activities, and information literacy sessions, the Committee strengthens the library as an environment for academic growth, research enrichment, and intellectual empowerment.

OBJECTIVES OF THE LIBRARY COMMITTEE
  1. To frame and implement policies for acquisition, accession, and preservation of learning resources as per RGU and NCTE norms.
  2. To enhance library holdings by procuring quality textbooks, reference books, journals, and e-resources aligned with the academic curriculum.
  3. To promote automation and digitization ensuring efficient bibliographic access and retrieval systems through ICT integration.
  4. To ensure equitable and inclusive access to library facilities for all users.
  5. To maintain transparency in budgeting, procurement, and audit of library resources.
  6. To conduct user training and literacy programmes for improving academic writing, referencing skills, and resource utilization.
  7. To establish continuous audit and feedback systems for strengthening library services.
  8. To develop the library into a research-supportive intellectual centre fostering academic excellence.
FUNCTIONS OF THE LIBRARY COMMITTEE
  1. To manage the complete functioning of the library including procurement, cataloguing, preservation, and circulation of resources.
  2. To verify and approve requests for new books, journals, and digital resources based on curriculum needs and faculty recommendations.
  3. To supervise automation and digitization of library operations using modern library management systems.
  4. To conduct library audits and stock verification to ensure accountability and proper resource utilization.
  5. To organize user orientation programmes to promote effective use of library facilities and digital tools.
  6. To collect feedback from users and upgrade infrastructure, resources, and policies accordingly.
  7. To maintain proper academic and financial documentation of procurement and library operations.
  8. To function as a policy advisory body enhancing the library as an academic hub for research and learning.
